Cinemas A French Heritage is part of the Photography Books collection and is the result of ten years of exploration throughout France, whether searching for decaying or completely abandoned cinemas, or exploring spectacular contemporary buildings.
The audience in dark movie theaters no longer exists. Habits have changed... cinema is no longer a world of magic. Movie theaters have lost their splendor, often pushed to the suburbs.
However, some of that fabulous heritage dedicated to the subject of cinemas persists, especially in France. It is one of the few countries where cinemas are still being built, sometimes with bold architecture. Furthermore, France is a place where its disappearance is fervently denied. Sometimes, on a street corner, a forgotten but brand new facade recalls past glories. It is there to remind everyone that cinema is immortal.
